Valley of the Moon Wine Club Special Release Wines: Spring 2020
2013 Valley of the Moon Reserve, The Bough, Sonoma County
Look for dried cranberry with subtle cedar and sweet tobacco on the nose. The palate opens with bright raspberry, developing into light white pepper and blueberry on the mid-palate, and fine cocoa tannins that complement throughout and linger on the finish.
Pair with flavors accentuated by grilled or roasted red meats and game meats such as lamb. Grilled filet mignon with blue cheese butter and portobello mushrooms highlight the decadence of this blend.
Limited library release; aged to perfection – enjoy today.
2014 Valley of the Moon Reserve Petite Sirah, Sonoma Valley
This wine opens with aromas of wild blackberry and mouth-watering hoisin sauce, while a hint of scratched iron suggests an underlying strength. On the palate, baking chocolate, rum-soaked black figs and well integrated oak frame the broad-shouldered structure with ample – yet refined – tannin.
A wine that deserves food as big and bold as it is such as barbecued beef, pork tenderloin with caramelized onion or chicken in molé sauce with sautéed eggplant and peppers. Try stews or ethnic foods with an array of spices and herbs.
Limited library release; enjoy now and through 2022.
2015 Valley of the Moon Winery Blend 1941
Intense color with aromas of winter spice and blackberry preserves. On the palate are flavors of dark ripe fruits, dark chocolate and baking spices. A concentrated wine with approachable tannins and a supple structure that leads to a lingering toasty finish.
A wine for rich and hearty dishes like roasts with gravy, meaty pastas, cheese and mushroom risotto or game meats: dishes with rustic simple flavor that speak for themselves.
2018 Valley of the Moon Reserve Chardonnay, Russian River Valley
White peach, nectarine, apricot with creamy oak overtones on the nose. Palate holds stone fruit, ripe yellow apple, ginger and anise spice with crisp acid mingling with a vanilla and cinnamon finish.
Pairs well with simple steamed lobster or fresh crab with melted butter, pan-seared scallops, or open-fire grilled chicken with fresh herbs and creamy mushroom risotto. For dessert, serve alongside poached pear and cinnamon.
2018 Valley of the Moon Unoaked Chardonnay, Sonoma Coast
Chardonnay in its truest form. Aromas of bright pear and apple, with flavors of citrus and stone fruit. Lifted by bright minerality and a clean, simple finish.
Pairs well with hard cheeses, light seafood dishes, green salads with goat cheese or freshly rolled sushi.
2018 Valley of the Moon Pinot Gris – Viognier
Aromas of honey, white peach, yellow apple and mango. On the palate, flavors of juicy bosc pear, peach, mango and tropical pineapple with a bright lemon meringue finish.
A versatile wine that's at home on many tables. Goes well with planked fish on the barbecue, creamy pastas or roast chicken. A fun match for fish tacos with avocado and fresh lime.
